Bruegel was born in the village of Brueghel, near Breda in the Duchy of Brabant (now the Netherlands),in around 1525. His father was a farmer, and his mother was a member of a wealthy family. Bruegel received a good education, and he studied painting under Pieter Coecke van Aelst in Antwerp.

In 1551, Bruegel traveled to Italy, where he spent several years studying the work of the Italian masters. He was particularly influenced by the work of Hieronymus Bosch, whose paintings often depicted scenes of human folly and suffering.

After his return to Antwerp in 1555, Bruegel began to produce his own paintings. In his painting "The Peasant Wedding" (1567),for example, Bruegel depicts a group of peasants celebrating a wedding. The painting is full of细节, and it provides a glimpse into the lives of the common people of the time.

In addition to his peasant scenes, Bruegel also painted landscapes. His landscapes are often characterized by their realism and their attention to detail. The painting is full of movement and energy, and it captures the beauty of the winter landscape.
