In 1960, at the age of 22, Yamada traveled to the United States to continue his martial arts journey. He initially settled in Los Angeles, where he began teaching karate at a local YMCA. In 1964, he founded his own karate organization, Seido Karate, which would go on to become one of the most influential martial arts organizations in the world.
